CASCO BAY FISHING AND WILDLIFE

The variety of species in casco bay make it a popular destination for recreational anglers

Common catches include Striped Bass, favorite summer sportfish in Maine, Atlantic Mackerel, often caught near islands and ledges, Pollock and Cod, found around deeper rocky areas, Bluefish, who occasionally arrive during warmer months, and Winter Flounder, common in nearshore waters.

The bay is also famous for its shellfish, especially Maine Lobster, along with clams, scallops, and mussels.

Additionally, it is home to a population of Harbor Seals, and other marine mammals such as whales, porpoises, and gray seals. Be on the lookout as you are cruising around for one to make an appearance!
